Spring Budgeting occurs at the end of every academic year, usually a couple weeks after Spring Break. Spring Budgeting is the process of all chartered groups proposing a budget for the entirety of the next academic year. Each chartered group must create a budget proposal, fill out appropriate paperwork and sign up for a time slot to present their proposal to the Committee. The Committee uses previous budgets, club spending, club activity, and other general information to evaluate each proposal. When creating your budget request, keep in that it is a proposal for the entirety of the next academic year, you want to minimize the amount of supplemental request you will need to make in the following year. At the same time, be reasonable in how much you are requesting, use your experience from the current year to help you in your projections for next year.

Spring Budgeting Process

Spring Budgeting Form: Use the subcodes to break down your request and explain each subecode request briefly. Here is a short example. Keep in mind that this is a budget proposal for the entirety of the next academic year, you want to minimize the amount of supplemental request you will need to make in the following year. At the same time, be reasonable in how much you are requesting, use your experience from the current year to help you in your projections for next year.

Non-Discrimination Statement: Must be filled out by club president/leader. This is a requirement of the college. Failure to submit this form will prevent any club spending in the next academic year.

Treasurer’s Agreement: Must be filled out by club treasurer. This is a requirement of the SBC. Failure to submit this form will prevent any club spending in the next academic year.

Club Roster: Please list all relatively frequent members of your club. Please do not copy over everyone on your listserv!

 

Spring Budgeting Form: Save as (clubName_budget). Submit on this Google Form

Club Roster: Save as (clubName_roster). Submit this on the form.

Non-Discrimination Statement: Submit this on the form and bring filled out copy to your budget meeting.

Treasurer’s Agreement: Submit this on the form and bring filled out copy to your budget meeting.

Remember to be prepared to quickly and comprehensively explain your budget. Don’t forget to bring your physical forms.

Once the Committee has approved a budget for you, record it on a budget sheet!
