{"id":15,"date":"2020-12-15T08:07:37","date_gmt":"2020-12-15T08:07:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.sccs.swarthmore.edu\/sgo\/home\/"},"modified":"2026-03-01T21:09:59","modified_gmt":"2026-03-01T21:09:59","slug":"home","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.sccs.swarthmore.edu\/sgo\/","title":{"rendered":"Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"409\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.sccs.swarthmore.edu\/sgo\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/10\/Snow-White-Stacked-SGO-Swarthmore-Student-Goverment-Organization-Logo-2.png-2-1024x409.png\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n\t\t\tCurrent AY<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t1864<br \/>\n\t\t\tMembers<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t0<br \/>\n\t\t\tCommittees<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t0<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1852\" height=\"1924\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.sccs.swarthmore.edu\/sgo\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/09\/Screenshot-2023-09-23-at-12.26.30-AM.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<h6>About Student Government<\/h6>\n<h2>What is SGO?<\/h2>\n<p>Members of the Student Government Organization of Swarthmore College serve as liaisons between the students and faculty, staff, alumni, and the administration at large.<\/p>\n<p>We are governed by our Constitution, which outlines our campus duties, including\u00a0management of the student group chartering process, appointments to Swarthmore College committees, and other relevant annual processes.\u00a0The Constitution also assigns the allocation of the Student Activities Budget to the Student Budgeting Committee (SBC), a subdivision of SGO.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In 2015 we codified our Bias Response Policy which instituted a protocol for timely and appropriate student response in incidents of bias within the Swarthmore College community.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1jCWo9LgrqvZu9szrEzVgexQBdNFYk80S\/view?usp=sharing\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tOur Constitution<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Executive Board<\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-size: 16px;font-style: normal;font-weight: 400\">The Executive Board meets on a weekly basis to make decisions regarding campus policy and student initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>The President and Vice President head the Executive Board, which consists of&nbsp;the appointed SBC Chair and&nbsp;seven elected SGO committee chairs:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-size: 16px;font-style: normal;font-weight: 400\">\n<li role=\"listitem\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">Academic Affairs<\/li>\n<li role=\"listitem\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">Diversity and Inclusion<\/li>\n<li role=\"listitem\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">Internal Affairs \/ Appointments<\/li>\n<li role=\"listitem\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">Student Life<\/li>\n<li role=\"listitem\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">Student Organizations<\/li>\n<li role=\"listitem\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">Outreach<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Senate<\/h3>\n<p>The Senate meets on a weekly basis as a part of the full SGO to review decisions made by the Executive Board and to offer support and ideas for SGO initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>The Senate is comprised of up to 20 senators. Senators are either elected by students to represent their class year, or selected by SGO to represent the general student body as Senators At-Large.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This body may propose amendments to the Constitution and work with the Executive Board to initiate referenda and pass resolutions.
