from the rag doll\u2019s eyes. 
The girl remains transformed, 
without the taste of cinnamon from home. 

The doctor cannot see what\u2019s missing. 
She doesn\u2019t know how to press her eyes, 
turn them over, 
pull her tongue, 
offer her fervid tastes of Spanish. 

She recognizes the eyes are from the disorder 
but not their nature within stripped treatment: 
the cavity in connection between 
mother, nurse, doctor. 

They keep seeing mother as a frog 
with antique, 
maladaptive ideologies. 

Her eyes sing with wisdom, 
distinct, yet inked 
with the same reasoning.
